Welcomed 2025 at Dahilayan Forest Park

We kicked off 2024 at Haven's Dew Resort in Kapatagan, Digos City for the incredibly important reason that...

we wanted to see fireworks.

Yep, not the stunning views, not the cozy ambiance—just fireworks.

I know. We got our priorities sorted out. πŸ˜…

This year, we decided to outdo ourselves and drove 6 hours to Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon to welcome 2025 at Dahilayan Forest Park.

And why, you might wonder?

You guessed it.

Fireworks.

Apparently, we’ll go to the ends of the earth for that glorious five-minute tiny explosions in the sky.

You have to understand, living in Davao, where the city ordinance has silenced the skies for over two decades, is both a blessing and a curse.

On the bright side, our New Year’s Eve is probably the safest in the country—no missing fingers, no watusi poisoning, no asthma-inducing smog, and no one dodging rogue kwitis.

On the flip side? Instead of fireworks, we have torotots, karaoke, pots and pans, car horns, and vehicles driving around the streets dragging tin sheets or whatever scrap metal people can find. And if that’s not enough, there are those who aggressively rev up their motorcycles (especially those with modified or open mufflers) so loudly that even the next town can hear it. Is that to let everyone know their ride isn’t fully paid yet?

Kaya naman pala.

Anyway.

Compared to Haven’s Dew, Dahilayan was definitely pricier, but their fireworks? Absolutely worth it—bigger, brighter, and way more spectacular. So for 2026, it looks like we’ll have to level up again.

How does Bangkok sound for New Year’s Eve?
