I don't really get my fingernails done.
My hands look too manly that no amount of hand spa and nail color can make it ladylike. My day to day activities are also not very friendly for long, prettyfied, manicured nails (I wash my children's bum, no thanks). So yeah, a trip to the nail salon is rather pointless.
But today, I went to get a manicure in preparation for an event this weekend. And while at it, I decided to have a softgel extension instead of a regular polish. Because why not? I will be free of kids and unwashed dishes for three days. Yay!
The whole process was new to me. Choosing the colors and design was the difficult part. But everything else was fast and easy. And the moment I saw the final result, I immediately felt like a queen.
I have dyed my hair, pierced my ears, put make up on, got lash extensions, threaded my brows (when it was a thing), and dressed up in pink. I did a lot more of these "girly" things. But it was today that I have felt the most feminine and powerful than ever. It's like I can do anything! Maybe even claw the eyes out of those who look over someone else's shoulder to see what they're doing on their phone.
For the first time in my life, my nails look pretty. I was swooning over it, never taking my eyes off... until I have to reply to an urgent message. And I typed:
"Ho, Miss Psula! Yrs, yoi can csll me anytumr."
It took me a whole two minutes to get the words right.
Then it dawned on me that I will never be able to function well until my nails grow out because I am not willing to spend another Php 200 to have the expensive extensions removed.
Now I have to learn to do simple things differently.
Like typing on a keyboard using only the index fingers.
And it pains me so much because I'm a hardcore touch typist who could have accurately typewritten this entire post blindfolded, dammit!
P.S. I decided to trim it a little because I couldn't figure out how to pick my nose with that length too. Haaalp! 😅
