So I Bit the Forbidden Fruit

But unlike Eve, the devil had nothing to do with it.

I used to think MacBooks were just status symbols for people who do not really know anything about tech and specs. Because sure as hell, you can get a Windows laptop with the same specs as the MacBook for half the price.

Then I realized those who make such claims are just bitter individuals who do not even own one. That included me.

I had my MacBook Pro (MBP) just last year. It is a hand-me-down from the Software Engineer husband. Honestly, we could have easily sold it for decent money. But we decided on keeping it just so I can continue blogging doing non-productive tasks on the web like sticking my nose into other people's lives on Facebook or watching hydraulic press crushing things on YouTube while I do not have a job.

I love how sleek and beautiful it is. But it is a 2016 model—ancient by tech standards to say the least.

Even so, it never felt that way.

It held up remarkably well over the years and it is still performing better than my sister's relatively new, mid-range (P40k+) laptop with higher specs. Mind you, I am a reckless and heavy user (I do design and development too). I could say I would not expect to get as much for a brand new Windows laptop with the same specs as I would for this six year-old MacBook.

Sure, you can argue and go all technical with me on this one. But I can only tell that the more you use it, the more you will come to agree. It is not just all about the specs, you see. It is about user experience and how everything works beautifully. The multi-touch trackpad is a game changer for me. If you have driven a manual transmission car and shifted to automatic, then you will know what I mean.

I am typing on this machine right now and while I am loving every bit of it, I know I will be hating this one day. You see, Jan unknowingly lives by the mantra: if it ain't broke, don't replace it (you should see all his possessions that are hanging by the thread). And I hate that this is not showing any sign of deterioration, with the exception of the battery, of course. So I guess, I'm going to live with this for another five more years.

But!

Should the rumors about the MacBook Air that will come in pastel colors be true, then I will be dropping this MBP accidentally but with much more aggression and force, then blame it to the cat just so I can get my hands on this pretty little thing with bouncier keys:
Yes, please.

So pretty! 😍😍😍 Image from macrumors.com
