Of Beers and Sundays

Finally, Sunday! The week has been pretty exhausting. I never thought that running a food business can be draining, especially for us who have no experience, training, or whatsoever on this.

Just to give you a little background, my friends and I started this food business that will run for the whole duration of Hudyakaan sa Kadayawan starting August 14 until August 23. I thought we've had a good start-up plan. Menu, costing, staff, and equipment were all planned out well but when put into the actual situation of serving beer and pulutan to an overwhelming number of customers, everything seemed to whirl in eddies that I was left stupefied and, not to mention, clumsy. But I'm glad we made it through our first night without losing money and sanity; although I can say it was kind of a disaster. Haha.

For the past weeks, I've succumbed to routine and this food business just added to the exhaustion. But I'm not complaining. I am really grateful for this. I take this as another learning experience and a challenge. And I just hope I'm not biting more than I can chew. It's also good to know that there are people around me who never fail to express their support; especially to Jan who stayed up all night just to be with me. :)

Stressful as the week was, it's really not that bad if you think about it. Do you know that song, "Count your blessings, name them one by one..."? Well, I just did, and it worked pretty well getting me pumped up for my turn to run our food business later until 1am (and here's the sweet deal: I need to be awake 4 hours later at 5am. Haha. Good luck, Sarah). I'm crossing my fingers that I'd do better today than my first night. This is going to run for seven more days. I am definitely going to take a beer, I mean, a break after this.

Well, I believe we can still handle this gracefully, so yes, I'm inviting every DavaoeΓ±os to come at Hudyakaan sa Kadayawan at Roxas Ave, starting from 6pm to 1am. Just look for The Berx Tree. :)

I am glad that today is finally Sunday. I think it's the only time my brain seems to jump start to life that I finally got time to write something.

I hope you had a good weekend! Have a fruitful week everyone! :)
